Who can resist Chocolate-chip cookies? They’re a favorite in most houses, not just for the taste of them but the sweet aroma that fills the air while they’re cooking.

Some extra options for your cookies;

  • Sandwich two together with a generous spreading of Nutella in the middle!
  • Melt some chocolate and drizzle it across the cookies, using a fork, to make little drizzle lines.
  • Make an ice-cream sandwich with a large dollop of vanilla ice cream between two cookies.
  • Crumble a cookie over your favorite fruit and yogurt to make a quick & easy dessert.

Ingredients Ingredients

  • Plain flour [7 oz / 200 g]
  • Softened butter [4 oz / 125 g]
  • Nutella [4 oz / 125 g]
  • Soft brown sugar [3 oz / 100 g]
  • Caster sugar (fine sugar) [3 oz / 100 g]
  • Egg (medium) [1]
  • Chocolate chips [4 oz / 125 g]
  • Cocoa powder [1 tablespoon]
  • Baking powder [half teaspoon]

Preparation & Cooking

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 F / 180 C.

  2. In a large mixing bowl, place the butter, brown sugar and caster sugar.

  3. Use a hand-held electric mixer to cream the mixture together until it turns smooth and creamy.

  4. Whisk the egg in a separate bowl, then add it and the Nutella to the butter and sugar mix. Beat together.

  5. In another bowl, sieve together the flour, baking powder and cocoa powder. Add this to the other bowl and stir gently with a wooden spoon to combine all the ingredients.

  6. Add in the chocolate chips and mix together again.

  7. Grease a cookie sheet with butter (to prevent the cookies sticking when cooked) or line with a sheet of parchment / baking paper.

  8. Use a small ice-cream scoop or a dessert spoon and drop spoonfuls / scoopfuls of the cookie dough onto the baking sheet, spaced far enough apart to allow them space to rise without sticking to each other when baking.

  9. Bake for 12 - 15 minutes until cooked through. Remove from oven and allow to cool slightly before transferring them to a wire rack.
