Serves 12 people.
You could also make these into Mini Chocolate Mud Pies by putting them in cupcake pans!
Using a large saucepan, melt the butter until it is soft but not changing color.
Remove the saucepan from the heat and add the cocoa powder and sugar, mix well together.
Next add the Maltesers and the crushed biscuits to the saucepan and give everything a great big stir!
Line you cake pan with cling film (plastic wrap), allowing it to overhang the sides of the pan, so that it will be easy to remove the cake when it sets.
Pour all of the mixture into the cake pan and use a wooden spoon to press it all down and compact it together.
For the cake topping, melt the plain chocolate in a microwave or double broiler until it is soft and easily spreads out.
Pour the melted chocolate all over the cake top and then place the cake in the fridge to set for 2 - 3 hours, or overnight if possible.
Remove from the fridge when it is firm and then carefully release the spring form pan from the cake, place on a serving plate, cut into portions and enjoy!
