Kids love helping to make Halloween party food and sometimes the simple recipes are the best ones! This recipe for Scary Hot Dog Mummies is so much fun to make and really gets the kids into the spirit of Halloween.
Preheat the oven to 180 C / 400 F.
Roll out the pastry onto a floured surface
Use a pizza cutter to cut the pastry into long strips.
Take a strip of pastry dough and begin wrapping it around a sausage to make it look like mummy bandages, ensuring you leave a gap at the top for the face. Continue until all of the sausages are wrapped in pastry.
Place each wrapped mummy onto a baking sheet / pan lined with parchment paper, with the face facing upwards.
Use a pastry brush to paint each mummy with a little beaten egg to help the pastry stick better.
Place the hot dog mummies into the oven and bake for 20 - 25 minutes until the dough is golden brown and cooked through.
